FAQ Topics
Need further assistance?
Will we have time to go ashore the islands we visit?
Absolutely, it would be a shame if you didn’t. Simply ask your crew and they will do their utmost to balance sailing with time ashore. The Caribbean islands are amazing and have a lot to offer ashore.
What is the general mix of people who book a cabin charter?
There is no ‘standard’ guest that sets sail with BlueFoot Travel. Travellers range from single and solo travellers to couples and small groups of friends and family. Cabin Charters are a great way of meeting new people and making new friends.
How do we know if we will get along with the other guests onboard a cabin charter?
This is a common question or thought. We have found that people who are drawn to this kind of quality adventure are usually outgoing and friendly people, who may have travelled extensively already, and are keen to experience a different kind of vacation. Surprisingly, many of our guests have never sailed on a boat before, and find they love it. Our shared charters are very popular and most enjoyable, and our guests meet and make new friends on each trip.
Can I smoke on board?
No, we operate a strict no smoking policy. Smoking of any form of tobacco is not allowed onboard or on the dock next to the boat. The use of e-cigarettes is fine.
Can we go diving during a sailing trip?
Yes, absolutely. Diving in the Caribbean is incredible. Your crew may have dive gear already on board and if not it may be possible to organise a Rendezvous dive. There is great diving to be had in the BVI, Antigua, Guadeloupe, St Vincent, Bequia, Carriacou and Grenada.
Can we fish whilst sailing?
Most yachts will have a fishing rod on board and if a fish is caught, your catch may become that night’s dinner!
Note that fishing is very limited in the British Virgin Islands due to local restrictions in marine regulations, in order to help safeguard the fish population. Your crew will be able to take you places where you can snorkel and see the fish in their natural habitat. If fishing is a real requirement for your sailing holiday, please let us know during the booking process.
Is internet access available?
Internet is available on some yachts and not others. Please view each of the yacht pages to see if it is.
Where it is not available you will be able to connect occasionally at certain Internet cafes along certain routes.
However, we recommend that you use the opportunity to ‘unplug’ from the grid during your sailing trip, and enjoy a true holiday.
Is sailing child friendly?
Yes, sailing is child-friendly. Kids make wonderful sailors and crew 🙂
