Volcano Eruption! Support St. Vincent & The Grenadines
On 9th April at 8:41 AM La Soufrière volcano on St. Vincent erupted. Since then, it has erupted over 30 times. Ash has spewed into the atmosphere up to 40-50,000 feet high covering islands far and wide, and pyroclastic flows have started.
This disaster is finally getting the visibility it needs as the fallout will be felt on St. Vincent and Grenadines for months to come.

Our hearts go out to all our friends on the islands who are either being evacuated or dealing with the effects of the eruption. This includes sulphur and ash-laden air that hinders breathing.
The ash is now lying inches thick across many of the islands. And the effect will be felt far and wide. We are currently in the Tobago Cays, about 50 miles south of the volcano, and Nemo is covered in a film of ash.

So not only have the islands not had the usual influx of travellers due to the coronavirus, but they now also have to deal with the impact of the volcanic eruption. It is critical that we help them rebuild so they can start to operate as quickly as possible again, especially as the hurricane season is on the horizon.
La Soufrière Volcano Disaster Relief
Nemo (The National Emergency Management Organisation) in St Vincent is leading disaster management. Relief efforts are being driven from all over, and there are supply drives which we are contributing to, taking place on many of the Grenadines islands as well as island nations around St. Vincent (Grenada, St Lucia and Barbados).

In addition, the UN has launched a $29 million appeal to support the stricken island of Saint Vincent
However, even if you are not here, you can contribute to the disaster support efforts too. We have been advised that these are the official ways you can support the disaster relief efforts from afar.
